COVID-19

27 March 2020 Written by Christian Saraïlis

The COVID-19 pandemic is currently hitting at a global level, forcing governments to take drastic action. Find out how these measures affect our practice and the way our services are offered to our clients?

REMOTE WORKING

For the past few years, we have made sure to implement a serie of cloud technologies in our practice. Whether it is email management via the most secure provider, Protonmail, or through the use of the Tresorit file server, and VOIP telephony, our office already had the means to maximize the productivity of its team, well before the pandemic, in remote working mode.

In the context of COVID-19, in order to ensure the safety and health of our team as well as that of our clients, each of our lawyers works in remote working mode.

OUR LITIGATION PRACTICE AND THE CLOSURE OF COURTS

Of course, the present situation, despite our remote working capacity, is not without impacting our services. Thus, the tribunals, courts and the majority of administrative instances are closed  and only accept to hear demands that qualify for an increased urgency criterion. This does not preclude that we can always carry out certain acts of management of a litigious nature, with the participation of the opposing lawyers, we can proceed with a certain amount of legal work despite this situation (eg negotiation, preliminary examination, drafting, etc.) If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact a lawyer from our team.

OUR PRACTICE IN THE OTHER AREAS

The management of matters related to our practice in business law, intellectual property, cannabis law, labor and employment law or international law is less impacted by this situation. We manage to provide almost the same services as in normal times. It is expected, on occasion, a possibility of some delay for the management of certain situations, but through Skype, Zoom and Docusign technologies, we are able to virtually meet the stakeholders in the matters, proceed with negotiations and ensure our services in a fairly normal way.

If the situation worsens and has a greater impact on our services, we will inform you in due course.

Thanking you for your trust and wishing you a period of safe physical distancing.
